From 26 July to 8 August, a group of 10 experts from the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (PVN) Petrovietnam attended scientific and technical training at Gazprom’s production facilities. The training was carried out within the framework of an agreement on cooperation in the area of training between Gazprom and Petrovietnam from 2012.
During the training, our Vietnamese colleagues visited a number of Gazprom Group production facilities in Moscow, the Ryazan Oblast and Orenburg and familiarised themselves with the work of subsidiary companies, and scientific research and design and technology centres.
At the Moscow office of Gazprom International, the unified specialised company for implementing Gazprom projects related to the prospecting, exploration, and development of hydrocarbon fields outside the Russian Federation, the Petrovietnam representatives attended lectures about the company’s operations in a number of upstream projects, methods and means for geological exploration, production, storage, processing and the sale of liquefied natural gas.
As part of the visit to the Scientific & Research Institute of Natural Gases and Gas Technologies (Gazprom VNIIGAZ), the Vietnamese group learned about the latest scientific achievements in the field of calculating resources and reserves of hydrocarbons and the various works carried out by the Centre for Offshore Oil & Gas Fields.
In addition, the guests visited the foundational school for the Russian oil and gas community, the Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas, where they had a tour of university departments and the museum. Our Vietnamese colleagues got to know the educational institution’s laboratories and training classes where training on topics related to the development of offshore deposits takes place.
The training programme also included familiarisation with the activities of Gazpromviet, the joint Russian-Vietnamese company conducting operations in the area of geological exploration, production and transportation of natural gas, gas condensate and oil on Russian territory. The guests also visited the Kasimovsk Administration for Underground Gas Storage in the Ryazan Oblast.
In Orenburg, the Petrovietnam delegation visited several of Gazprom Dobycha Orenburg’s industrial complexes. The delegates got acquainted with the Personnel Training Centre, visited the gas production directorate, and the gas processing and helium plants. A series of retreats and seminars were held for them.
At the end of the training programme, Gazprom representatives presented the Vietnamese specialists with certificates. The guests were also shown the main cultural and historical sites of Moscow and Orenburg.
PVN Petrovietnam is engaged in the prospecting, production, refining, transportation and sale of hydrocarbons.
Gazprom International, representing Gazprom’s interests in foreign projects, is conducting geological exploration works in blocks No 112, Nos 129-132, as well as No 05-2 and No 05-3 on Vietnam’s continental shelf. Additionally, the company is part of the joint Vietnamese-Russian project of PVGAZPROM Natural Gas for Vehicles for the production of gas motor fuel.
In 2009, Gazprom and Petrovietnam signed an Agreement on Strategic Partnership, one of the main points of which is the development of scientific and technical cooperation between the companies.
In April 2012, Gazprom and Petrovietnam signed a separate agreement on the training and retraining of personnel for Vietnam’s oil and gas industry under which mutual contacts in the sphere of education and scientific research cooperation are taking place on a regular basis.
With the support of Gazprom International, the Gubkin Russian State University has been preparing postgraduates and graduate students for PVN Petrovietnam since 2013.
According to the institution, a total of 100 Vietnamese citizens were enrolled at the university in 2014-2015.
