A ceremony to mark the start of the drilling of the first ultradeep exploratory well, Shakrinav-1P, was held today, 7 December, at the Sarikamysh field in the Shakhrinavsky district of the Republic of Tajikistan.
The following people took part in the ceremony from the Tajikistan side: Gul Sherali (the Republic of Tajikistan's minister for energy and industry), Azim Ibrohim (head of the Main Geology Authority in the Republic of Tajikistan's Government), the head of the local authority for the Shakhrinavsky district, representatives from the Republic's core ministries and agencies and other official personnel.
The Russian side was represented by: Valery Gulev (General Manager of Gazprom zarubezhneftegaz (operating company for Gazprom's hydrocarbon prospecting and exploration projects in the Republic of Tajikistan)), Sergei Tumanov (Director of Gazprom zarubezhneftegaz's representative office in the Republic of Tajikistan), Vitali Stepanov (General Manager of the Orenburg Drilling Company (general drilling contractor)), and representatives from contractor companies.
When making his address at the ceremony, the Republic of Tajikistan's minister for energy and industry, Gul Sherali, showed appreciation for Gazprom's work in the exploration and prospecting of hydrocarbon resources and expressed the hope for further fruitful collaboration.
Sergey Tumanov, the director of Gazprom zarubezhneftegaz's representative office in the Republic of Tajikistan, replied by thanking the Republic's government and Gul Sherali personally for the attention and support shown to the project and noted that the operator is just as interested as Tajikistan in the successful implementation of the project and hopes to obtain recoverable reserves of gas in the objects that had been explored.
Shakhrinav-1P is the first ultradeep exploratory well in the Republic of Tajikistan and in Central Asia. Its projected depth is 6,300 metres.
A preliminary assessment of the projected gas resources in this area amounts to 18 billion cubic metres, and the expected oil reserves are 17 million tonnes, with solute gas in the oil of 2 billion cubic metres.
The level of Gazprom's investment in carrying out geological exploration, starting from June 2009, amounts to more than 1.5 billion Russian roubles. This includes around 550 million roubles which were allocated to the construction of the well.
3-D field seismic survey work over an area of 125 square kilometres was started in the Sarikamysh field on 24 June 2009.
A good structure, "Shakhrinav ", was detected following interpretation of the data received in this area.
Gazprom confirmed the drill site in June 2010 - Shakhrinav-1P.
Within the context of drilling preparations, the operator carried out repair and reconstruction work on the access road to the well.
The mobilisation of equipment and materials has been put into effect since June 2010.
