Today a PJSC Gazprom delegation led by Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Management Committee visited Uzbekistan. While in Tashkent, Alexey Miller held meetings with Shavkat Mirziyoyev, President of Uzbekistan and Abdulla Aripov, the Uzbek Prime Minister.
Both parties expressed their appreciation of their rpartnership in the energy sector. They also noted that Gazprom and Uzbekneftegaz are working jointly on exploring and developing gas in Uzbekistan, including the Shakhpakhty field. During negotiations the parties agreed to develop a joint plan to carry out exploration in Uzbekistan and enhance the sharing of experience in project work and training skilled gas industry specialists.
In addition they discussed matters relating to the purchase of Uzbek natural gas by Gazprom and investment projects in Uzbekistan.
Uzbekneftegaz is a national holding corporation based in Uzbekistan focused on oil and gas prospecting, production, processing, transportation, storage, and marketing.
In 2002, Gazprom and Uzbekneftegaz signed an Agreement on Strategic Cooperation providing for Gazprom's participation in natural gas production projects within Uzbekistan under PSA conditions.
Since 2004, Gazprom has been involved in PSA-based gas production recovery at the Shakhpakhty field.
In 2006, Gazprom and Uzbekneftegaz signed an Agreement on the basic principles of exploration at investment blocks in the Ustyurt region of Uzbekistan. Gazprom International was appointed as the project operator. In 2009, in the course of exploration, the Dzhel gas and condensate field was discovered within the Shakhpakhty block.
In 2016, Gazprom purchased approximately t 6.28 billion cubic meters of gas from Uzbekistan.
