The research/survey vessel Diabaz has reached the well construction point for the VGP-111-BV-4X exploratory well (in the Bao Vang structure) and is now mobilising equipment.
This work is being carried out as part of the dynamic preparation by Joint Operating Company Vietgazprom to extend the drilling programme in block 112 of the Vietnam shelf.
The drilling of an engineering and geological well is planned under the engineering and geological surveys which the vessel is carrying out in order to assess the behaviour of the bed and perform seismic exploration. These engineering and geological surveys are essential to assess the situation of the topmost rock and the drill ship's next direction.
The drilling of exploratory well VGP-111-BV-4X is planned within the scope of the Oil-and-Gas contract for block 112, signed between Gazprom, the Vietnamese National Oil-and-Gas Group Petrovietnam, PVEP Corporation for Oil-and-Gas Prospecting and Production, and Gazprom zarubezhneftegaz.
An exploratory well in the Bao Vang structure, drilled by Vietgazprom in August 2007, indicated recoverable reserves of gas. According to this survey, inflows of gas amounted to up to 400,000 cubic metres per day. There is also gas condensate present in the well's production output. This provided confirmation for the opening of the Bao Vang gas condensate deposit.
