On Tuesday 5 October, Zarobiddin Faizulloyev (the Republic of Tajikistan's deputy Minister for Energy and Industry) and Saidmamad Sharofiddinov (Tajiktransgaz's General Manager) visited the Shakhrinav-1P drill site (36 kilometres south-west of Dushanbe). Sergei Tumanov (Director of Gazprom zarubezhneftegaz's representative office in the Republic of Tajikistan) and Igor Shatalov (Deputy Director of Production at the representative office) represented the Russian side at the meeting, along with representatives from the Orenburgsky Drilling Company and the project's technical support group.
The working group got up to speed with the progress of the development and reconstruction of the road leading to the drill point, and visited the drill camp and operating platform where the installation of the drilling rig is being carried out.
28 people and up to 10 units of specialist technicians have now started working at the field. The rig-building department of the Orenburgsky Drilling Company are continuing with the installation of the drilling rig. All the necessary equipment intended for the installation and erection of the boring machine has been delivered to the field.
The raising of the machine is planned to take place this October, in accordance with the approved schedule.
During the visit, Mr. Faizulloyev (Deputy Minister for Energy and Industry in the Republic of Tajikistan) expressed satisfaction with the progress of preparations to drill the first exploratory well and stressed the importance of the project for the Republic of Tajikistan.
Sergei Tumanov replied by assuring the guests that the Russian side was taking a responsible approach to the project in Tajikistan and planned to employ only those advanced technologies which are scientifically sound.
The general drilling contractor is the Orenburgsky Drilling Company.
The company is planning to start on drilling the Sakhrinav-1 well in November this year.
The Sarikamysh field is estimated to have the best prospects from all of Gazprom's four licensed areas.
Sakhrinav 1 is the deepest well in the Republic of Tajikistan. It is 6,300 metres deep.
Gazprom zarubezhneftegaz, at Gazprom's request, is undertaking the hydrocarbon exploration and prospecting project in Tajikistan.
The company is currently carrying out geological exploration work in 4 areas licensed by Gazprom: the Sarikamysh field (Shakhrinavsky district), the Sargazon field (Dangarinsky district) the Rengan field (Rudaki district), and the West Shokhambari field (Gissarsky district).
