Gazprom zarubezhneftegaz (Gazprom's operator for hydrocarbon exploration and prospecting in the Republic of Tajikistan) has begun work on assembling a boring machine in the Sarikamysh section of the Shakhrinasky district of the Republic (36 kilometres south-west of Dushanbe).
The derrick building is carried out by the drilling contractor, the Orenburgsky Drilling Company, under the supervision of specialists from the RG company (a manufacturer and supplier of drilling rigs in China).
Also the preparation work on the foundations under the derrick and drawworks unit, the provision of a residential campus and the formation of the entire necessary working infrastructure are being completed within the scope of drilling preparations for the first exploratory well in the Shakhrinav 1 field. Currently 22 people and up to 10 units of specialist technicians have started working.
The development and reconstruction of the access road to the drilling site at the 15km-long section of road from the villages of Bolshevik and Kyzylbulok to the Shakhrinav-1 drilling point is at the stage of completion. The road preparation works are currently more than 80% complete.
During the period from 25 September to 3 October, heavy automotive equipment with large-sized loads (total weight of up to 370 tonnes), essential for the erection of the boring machine, will be sent along the route in question to the drilling field.
The general drilling contractor is the Orenburgsky Drillng Company.
The company is planning to start drilling the Sakhrinav-1 well in November this year.
The Sarikamysh field is estimated to have the best prospects of all of Gazprom's four licensed areas.
