The extent of the drilling work carried out by Gazprom zarubezhneftegaz in the Ustyurt region of the Republic of Uzbekistan from January to June 2010 has reached 7,141 metres.
Work is currently underway on four wells, in accordance with a phased programme of exploration work.
In July at well no. 2 on the Dzhel field, testing of three objects was carried out in the 2441-2446 metre range. An industrial inflow of gas was obtained and the presence of gas in reservoir X was confirmed.
Drill stem tests (DST) were carried out at well no. 1 in the Karaaudan field.
Well no. 2 in the Kuma field and well no. 1 in the Tamarly field are under construction.
In addition, gas production continues in the Shakhpakhti deposit under a signed PSA. From the start of 2010 up to 25 July, 125.8 million cubic metres of gas has been extracted from the deposit.
The overall amount of gas produced for the period from August 2004 until July 2010 amounts to 1,578 billion cubic metres of gas.
In May 2009, Gazprom zarubezhneftegaz opened a natural gas deposit in the Dzhel field, located within the boundaries of the Shakhpakhtinsky investment block on the Ustyurt plateau.
An industrial inflow of natural gas was obtained when testing exploratory well No. 1 to a depth of 3,049 metres within a range of 2,387-2,396 metres.
Gazprom zarubezhneftegaz is carrying out exploration work on the Ustyurt plateau based on the "Agreement concerning the basic principles for conducting geological study of the subsoil in the investment blocks of the Ustyurt region of the Republic of Uzbekistan", signed on 25 January 2006 between Gazprom and the national holding company, Uzbekneftegaz.
A feasibility study for the project was carried out in 2006. In December 2006 Gazprom was granted a licence for conducting exploration work in seven blocks, so that the project could be practically executed
