The meeting of the Committee was attended by Vladimir Vovk, Head of Gazprom's Directorate for Offshore Field Development Technology; Nail Gafarov, Deputy Head of the Department for Extraction of Gas, Gas Condensate and Oil; Sergei Tumanov, CEO of Vietgazprom; Phan Tien Vien, Head of the Geological Survey Department at PetroVietnam (The Vietnam Oil and Gas Group); Doan Duy Tham, Deputy Head of the PetroVietnam Management Department; Nguyen Van Khue, Deputy CEO of PVEP (PetroVietnam Exploration & Production, a member of the PetroVietnam Group); and other specialists from Gazprom, Gazprom International, Vietgazprom JOC and contractors.
The participants examined the progress in implementation of the 2012 work plan and endorsed the document entitled Refined Programme of Work and Budget for 2013. The Committee also approved provisional locations for drilling sites and target depths of new exploratory wells, the annual accounting report and the selection of contractors for the provision of various services.
Sergei Tumanov, head of Vietgazprom, summarized the meeting: ”We now have a fairly clear idea of what the last few months of the year are going to be like for us, and of how we will be implementing our plans for next year. I would also like to praise our Vietnamese colleagues for their excellent work. We have quite a few differences in our traditions, ways of life and world outlooks. However, these things do not stop us from finding a common language, learning from each other and working for mutual benefits, for the good of our countries. The results that we have achieved are a striking proof of this.”
In October 2008, Gazprom and PetroVietnam signed a 30-year contract for the prospecting, exploration and extraction of hydrocarbons in Blocks 129, 130, 130, 131 and 132 on the continental shelf of Vietnam. The contract will be implemented under PSA conditions. The operator of this project is the Vietgazprom Joint Operating Company. Gazprom provides financing for the project at the stage of geological exploration.
