For the first time on 22 July the employees of Gazprom International together with their colleagues from PJSC Gazprom and its subsidiaries participated in the XXIX International White Nights Marathon in St. Petersburg.
One of Russia’s largest marathons started and finished on the Palace Square, and the entire route ran through the historic center of the city. More than 11thousand athletes from 60 countries came together to race on two distances, 42 and 10 km.
Artemiy Alemesov was the best among the men of Gazprom International with finishing time 48 minutes 11 seconds. Nadezhda Abramova, who ran 10 km in 1 hour 03 minutes and 10 seconds, was the best among the women.
Oleg Stremilov ran the marathon distance of 42 km with finishing time 4 hours 55 minutes and 25 seconds.
Led by Alexander Nikiforov, Deputy Director of HR and Legal Affairs, the Gazprom International team was represented at the marathon by the employees of several Divisions and Sections of the Company, including Legal, HR, IT, Operations Management, Operations Supervision, Corporate Security, Finance, Contracts and Costs, Exploration, Geological and Hydrodynamic Simulation.
The International White Nights Marathon is held to promote a healthy lifestyle, friendly international sports relationships and tourism, and name the strongest marathon runners in St. Petersburg. The marathon is one of the largest running competitions in the Russian Federation.
The event is held by the Committee for Physical Culture and Sports of the Administration of St. Petersburg, RPO Sports Federation of Athletics of Saint-Petersburg, and Eurosport LLC.
Men and women born in 1998 and older are allowed to run the marathon distance.
Participants born in 2003 and older are allowed to run the distance of 10 km.
The White Nights Marathon was first held in Leningrad in 1990.
