Gazprom International executives attended the VIII St. Petersburg International Gas Forum (SPIGF 2018) that took place on October 2-5 at the Expoforum Congress Center.
On the sidelines of the SPIGF 2018, Managing Directors at Gazprom International Alexander Kim and Sergey Tumanov attended the plenary session entitled “Role and Place of Gas in the Global Economy” presided by Head of Gazprom PJSC Alexey Miller, as well as participated in workshops and held a number of meetings with representatives of foreign companies.
On October 4, Gazprom International executives held work sessions with representatives of India’s and China’s energy sectors. The parties discussed the issues of expertise in gas production, plans for the execution of promising projects, and opportunities for cooperation.
Supported by the International Business Congress, Youth Day was another highlight of the SPIGF 2018. Training and Business Development Director at Gazprom International Training Robertus Veersma moderated the students’ section of the Forum. Youth Day included an informal meeting with directors of the world’s major oil and gas corporations. Alexey Miller opened the meeting highlighting that a dialogue and exchange of views between industry leaders and students from the world’s leading universities are important in terms of charting new directions for the gas industry and creating professional opportunities for young leaders.
During the conference dedicated to the role of corporate personnel policies in the development of the oil and gas sector, Managing Directors at Gazprom International Training Bernard van Polanen and Grigory Krotkov gave a presentation entitled "The Future of Training / VR Trainings in Occupational Safety." In addition, Deputy Director for HR and Legal Alexander Nikiforov delivered a presentation on how the fourth industrial revolution and digital transformation influence human capital. He pointed out that young professionals must be prepared for the rapid change in oil and gas technologies and emphasized the need to be proactive in meeting the requirements of the technologies of the future.
The 2018 SPIGF is part of the Russian Energy Week, an international forum on energy efficiency and development. The Forum's priority objective is to create a platform for the effective collaboration of industry leaders. The Forum is indeed Russia’s unique gas-related event: Apart from its wide-ranging agenda of exhibitions, the SPIGF demonstrates having informative and up-to-date conferences from year to year.
