Gazprom International organised a voting procedure for Russian drilling technicians in Tajikistan
Gazprom International’s representative office in the Republic of Tajikistan has organised a voting procedure for the Russian presidential elections for workers in contract organisations that are carrying out drilling work in the licensed area of Sarikamysh. On 4 March, staff from the representative office to the Shakhrinav-1P drill site, 36 km from Dushanbe sent members of the election committee and ballot boxes for the voting, which took place in specially equipped trailers. “Drilling is a complex technological process, which cannot be interrupted at this point in time”, stressed Zinaida Krassiy, acting director of Gazprom International’s representative office in Tajikistan. “In this regard, we believed it essential to organize the delivery of the election committee and the necessary equipment directly to the facility, so that Russian citizens could carry out their constitutional rights, in spite of being occupied at work.”
Background: The projected depth of the Shakhrinav-1P well amounts to 6,300 metres. It is the deepest well in Tajikistan and one of the deepest in Central Asia. The well is currently more than half drilled. A preliminary assessment of the total resources at the Sarikamysh area estimates them to be 20 billion cubic metres of gas and around 17 million tonnes of oil.
