As stated in a report from Gazprom zarubezhneftegaz, Valery Petrenko previously held the posts of finance director and executive director, and was also the first deputy director general of Zarubezhneftegaz.
On Thursday in Hanoi the fifth management committee meeting took place regarding the oil and gas contract in block 112 of the Vietnamese continental shelf. At the meeting, the results of Vietgazprom’s work in 2008 were confirmed, as well as an action plan for 2009.
In all, by the beginning of 2008 at the time the contract was implemented, 3D seismic exploration work over an area of 800 square kilometres had been carried out, and also three exploratory wells had been drilled. On 13 February 2008, permission was received from the Vietnamese government to extend the area in block 111/04. In addition in 2008, 2D seismic profiling was carried out over an area of 2,000 linear kilometres on the coastal part of blocks 111/04 and 112, and 3D seismic profiling over an area of 900 square kilometres in the Bao Vang deposit and the Bao Trang prospect structure. Interpretation of the data received as a result of the seismic profile work is currently under way. Preparations to sink 3 test wells in the Bao Vang deposit and 3 exploratory wells in the Bao Den, Bao Trang and Coastal structures are in progress. The drilling programme will take over 14 months, with the start of work planned for June 2009.
On this same day an administrative meeting of the management committee regarding the oil and gas contracts in blocks 129, 130, 131 and 132 of the Vietnamese continental shelf took place. Participants at the meeting examined and approved Vietgazprom’s programme of work and budget for surveying these blocks. In 2009 in particular it is planned to carry out 2D marine seismic profiling over an area of 8,800 linear kilometres (with processing and interpretation over 10,750 linear kilometres), and also marine geochemical surveys (a selection of around 1,000 tests).
Gazprom and Petrovietnam signed a 30-year contract for blocks N129-132 on 27 October 2008. The joint venture company Vietgazprom was appointed as project operator (Gazprom’s interests in this organisation are represented by Gazprom zarubezhneftegaz).
Vietgazprom is currently conducting geological exploration work in block N112. In August 2007, industrial inflows of natural gas were obtained during Vietgazprom’s geological exploration work in block 112 of the Vietnamese continental shelf in Bak Bo Gulf (Gulf of Tonkin) through a test prospect well in the Bao Vang area. Gas condensate was also discovered in the open deposit.
